1959-1969: The end of Bern and the crisis of the 60


1959-1960:
Barcelona win the league, in an exciting battle with Real Madrid, and the Fairs Cup in a tough season in which gets to play 60 games.
On September 3, 1959 Barcelona debut in the European Cup. After overcoming three rounds, with historical results as a Milan 0-2 and 5-1 and 2-5 and 4-0 at Wolverhampton, falls in semifinals against Real Madrid. Three days later, on April 30, 1960, Miró-Sans dismisses Herrera.
With Enric Rabassa on the bench, Barcelona is eliminated in the Cup for Athletic Bilbao, but wins the II Fairs Cup by beating Birmingham 4-1 at the Camp Nou.

1960-1961:
The Croatian Ljubisa Brocic is the new coach. Only lasts six months and is replaced by his assistant, Henry Orizaola. In the League the Barcelona finishes 20 points behind Real Madrid. Cup is eliminated by Espanyol and the Fairs Cup falls before the Hibernians.
The only competition that the team seems to smile is the European Cup. In the playoff semifinals defeat to Real Madrid. In the first leg on November 9, 1960 at the Bernabeu, the match ends 2-2, while in the back, on 23 November Real Madrid at the Camp Nou falls 2-1. Real Madrid understood partially in favor of the Catalans arbitration. The May 31, 1961, Barcelona plays its first final of the European Cup against Benfica. The result is 3-2 for the Portuguese, in a game where luck was allied with the Catalans, by slamming the ball four times in the wood.
Suarez, who in March was elected best player in Europe, signed for Inter. Czibor and Tejada also leave the club and Kubala and Ramallets removed.
Miro-Sans resigns and March 1 gets interim president, of Antoni Julia Campmany. On June 7, 1961 elections held by the system of delegates. The winner and new president is Llaudet Enric Ponsa with 122 votes for 98 of its rival, Jaume Fuset.

1961-1962
Former goalkeeper Miro Lluis ranks Barca bench, but poor performance forced his substitution by Kubala. The team traces the way in the league and finishes second. 1962-1963:

1963-1964:
The Leon Cesar Rodriguez, the scorer of Barcelona from the 40, takes over the team. For the first time in many years the team seems ready to fight for the league title, but all illusions disappear in a decisive Barcelona-Real Madrid at the Camp Nou, where Real Madrid 1-2 expire. In the Cup the Barcelona falls in semifinals eliminated by Zaragoza.
The Barcelona debut in the Cup Winners' Cup. It is eliminated by the Hamburg Uwe Seeler in a tiebreaker played in Lausanne.

1964-1965:

1965-1966:

1966-1967:

In the Cup the Barcelona falls in eighth against Atletico Madrid and the Fairs Cup does not pass the first round.

1967-1968
Salvador Artigas, who had been a Republican aviator in the war, is the new coach of Barcelona. The team returns to second in the league while in the Fairs Cup falls eliminated by Zurich in the first round. In the Cup, Barca team gets the title brilliantly. Barcelona beats Sporting Gijon, Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid and is presented in the final against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Expire at the end Barca 0-1 with goals from Zunzunegui own goal 6 minutes into the public, after the game, threw glass bottles on the pitch, discontent over the controversial arbitration.

1968-1969:
Barcelona still stand out in the league and finishes third. In loses input Cup with Real Sociedad, but the team has toned in the Cup Winners Cup and makes it to the final after beating Lugano, at Lynn Oslo and Cologne (with excellent game Fuste, author of three goals ).
The May 21, 1969 Barcelona and Slovan Bratislava play the Cup Winners Cup final in Basel. Imposed by the Czechs 3-2. They scored Zaldúa and Rexach, the latter with Olympic goal.
